Ten Second Precision is pleased to introduce the latest generation of the Ten Second Precision Data Sleeve. Although the overall concept remains unchanged, this release represents the third generation of the product. It reflects more than a year of deliberate refinement informed by extensive field testing and customer feedback. The evolution of the Data Sleeve illustrates Ten Second Precision’s approach to product development. Rather than designing products around assumptions, we believe the best equipment is developed through practical experience, continuous evaluation, and the input of the professionals and enthusiasts who depend upon it in the field.
Origins
The origins of the Ten Second Precision Data Sleeve can be traced back to early 2025, when High Desert Rifle Works and Ten Second Precision operated as separate companies under the leadership of Thomas Gomez and Aaron Martin, respectively.
During that time, Aaron traveled to Central New Mexico to assist Thomas with a long-range precision rifle and thermal training course hosted at his ranch. While preparing for the night-fire portion of the course, Thomas identified a recurring shortcoming in the wrist-mounted data sleeves available at the time. Although they provided a convenient way to carry ballistic data, most were poorly constructed, tended to flop around on the wrist, and frequently snagged on gear during movement. They also offered little opportunity for future refinement. That realization became the catalyst for developing a more durable, streamlined, and mission-focused solution.
Rather than adapting an existing product, Thomas partnered with an OEM manufacturer to develop a purpose-built alternative. The result was the original High Desert Rifle Works Data Sleeve, produced in Dark Tan and designed around a 2.5 × 4-inch data card. Although simple in its design, it addressed a practical need that had been largely overlooked within the precision shooting community.
The response was immediate and overwhelmingly positive. Shooters appreciated the straightforward, mission-focused design, validating both the concept and the demand for a dedicated field data management system built around real-world use rather than existing convention.
Refinement Through User Feedback
As adoption of the Data Sleeve increased, users consistently requested compatibility with larger 3 × 5-inch data cards, allowing additional ballistic information and reference material to be carried without sacrificing accessibility. In response, High Desert Rifle Works redesigned the Data Sleeve to accommodate the larger format while incorporating an integrated pen holder beneath the viewing window. The updated design sold out quickly, reinforcing a product development philosophy centered on listening to end users and continuously refining the product based on real-world feedback.
Later that year, Thomas Gomez and Aaron Martin recognized that their companies were pursuing many of the same objectives within the shooting and outdoor industry. They chose to combine their efforts, and High Desert Rifle Works was integrated into the Ten Second Precision brand.
As part of the transition, the Gen2 Data Sleeve was launched under the Ten Second Precision name and received several thoughtful refinements. The pen holder was relocated to the exterior of the viewing window for improved accessibility, and every Data Sleeve began shipping with data cards from our strategic partner, Modern Day Sniper.

Field Validation
Over the following year, the Ten Second Precision Data Sleeve was adopted by a diverse range of users, including competitive shooters, hunters, law enforcement officers, military personnel, and professional instructors. This broad user base generated valuable feedback across an equally broad range of environments and applications. Thousands of hours of field use provided meaningful insight into the product’s strengths while identifying opportunities for continued refinement. Those observations became the foundation for the third generation of the Data Sleeve.

Third-Generation Improvements
The latest iteration incorporates several targeted improvements while preserving the simplicity, durability, and functionality that defined the original design. Let's explore the changes on the Gen3 model.
Streamlined Identification
The embroidered logo has been replaced with a removable woven identification tag. Although the embroidered logo provided a distinctive appearance, it also reduced the sleeve's natural elasticity and tended to retain heat and perspiration during prolonged use. Relocating the branding to a removable tag improves overall comfort while allowing military and law enforcement personnel to remove identifying markings when operational requirements necessitate equipment sterilization.
The Gen3 Data Sleeve still has internal and external pen and chemlight holders. Branding is a simple tag on the data window.
Enhanced Moisture Protection
Customer feedback also identified moisture intrusion into the rear document pocket during extended wear. To address this concern, the third-generation Data Sleeve incorporates a PVC moisture barrier behind the rear data window, providing significantly greater protection for stored data cards. While many users successfully mitigated this issue by using Rite in the Rain® paper, integrating moisture resistance directly into the product provides a more comprehensive and permanent solution.
Expanded Color Selection
In addition to the original Dark Tan configuration, the Data Sleeve is now offered in Black in response to requests from government agencies and law enforcement organizations. A Red variant has also been introduced to support fire and emergency medical personnel who require rapid visual identification of role-specific equipment.
Expanded Standard Accessories
Each Ten Second Precision Data Sleeve continues to include two Modern Day Sniper data cards. Beginning with this generation, every sleeve will also include a compact chemical light and a dry-erase marker.

Looking Forward
The Ten Second Precision Data Sleeve has evolved considerably since its introduction in 2025, but the underlying philosophy has remained unchanged. Every design revision has been guided by practical experience, objective evaluation, and direct feedback from the individuals who rely on the product in demanding environments.
The third generation represents the next stage in that evolution. While it incorporates numerous refinements, it remains true to the original objective: providing shooters with a durable, intuitive, and field-proven solution for managing critical information when it matters most.
